Urban Prep Academies: A Solution for Our Boys of Color?
In response to Washington, DC's achievement gap, some of the city's leaders have a new proposed solution -- an all-male college preparatory high school. The proposed school, to be modeled after the Urban Prep Academies founded in Chicago, seeks to fill the gap by providing the city's boys with male role models. Our blogger, Amara Pinnock, talked to influential proponent of the school, Darryl Wiggins, former campaign chairman for Muriel Bowser, about the need for this school and the changes they hope to bring to DC.
