How to Strengthen Relationships with Students: The Vital Role of Emotional Constancy

A Free Professional Development Event for DC-Area Teachers

Friday, March 13 — 8:30am to 1:30pm

DC Scholars Public Charter School

5601 E. Capitol St. SE; Washington, DC 20019

This workshop focuses on the critical resource of emotional constancy – the delicate art of controlling and tempering our emotions. In particular, participants in this session will learn how to model this trait for their students by:

Understanding the impact of emotional constancy in creating a positive learning environment
Identifying methods to maintain composure and self-control
Practicing scenarios in which emotional constancy is vital to supporting our students

During this half-day professional development, participants will have the opportunity to see emotional constancy in action as they tour DC Scholars PCS, observe instruction, and meet with current elementary and early childhood teachers.

Many thanks to everyone for coming out to catch a great night of bluegrass music with BLUETRAIN this past Saturday at the Weekend Bluegrass Concert Series. A night of super picking and singing and fun with a grand bunch of musicians. Thanks again to David Propst, Tom Reeves, George Osing, Rick Miller and Tom Lyons for putting on a great show and also to our patrons for their continuing support. It was especially nice to see everyone there as the weather finished us off, before we could even start, the Saturday before last (February 21st) where only myself and The Clay Hess Band made it out in what turned out to be some 8-11" of snow. It's time for SPRING folks - lol.

[dcab-l] 5th Annual DC Bluegrass Festival....

....Was held this past Friday and Saturday at the Sheraton Tysons Hotel in Tysons Corner, Virginia. It was a great success with a good turnout and lots of terrific music from Grammy Winners The Earls of Leicester; The Seldom Scene; Tim O'Brien; Blue Highway; Sierra Hull; The Bankesters; Gold Heart; Bluestone; The Grass Cats; And 2015 DCBU Band Competition Winner Grand Ole' Ditch from Frostburg, Maryland.
