[dcab-l] St. Patrick's Day: Red is the Rose

Songwriters & Music Lovers:

"Red is the Rose" is a traditional Irish ballad of unknown origin.  It's sung to the

same tune as the famous Scottish song "Loch Lomond", and has a similar theme:

the sadness of parting with one's lover.  Notable versions include:

Tommy Makem & Liam Clancy -  (Traditional Irish)

The Chieftains & Nancy Griffith - (Traditional Irish/Contemporary Folk)

The Three Irish Tenors             -  (Classical/Opera)

This live performance by “All Mixed Up” at Coolfont Resort in W. Va. includes:

Barry Wendell     Lead Vocal & Rhythm Guitar

Ed Schaeffer       Lead Guitar;  Bass

This live version demonstrates Barry Wendell’s exquisite vocals; he is one of the

better singers in the entire region.
