Songwriters & Music Lovers:
Here’s a live Rattlesnake Hill show from the Appalachian Jubilee, a live Country and syndicated
radio show broadcast from the Capitol Theater, Chambersburg, Pa.
“He Took Your Place” was written by Flatt and Scruggs and appeared in the album “Foggy
Mountain Gospel”. This cut has also been done by Porter Wagoner and also the Whites, and
many others. It appeared on our CD: “Brimstone Bluegrass”:
Gospel music is inherent within Bluegrass; as Bill Monroe described: “It’s got the Holiness in it!”.
This song summarizes the passion of Christ’s crucifixion on Mt. Calvary. In so doing, Christ dies
to forgive the sins of mankind. Hence the title: “He Took Your Place”.
This song drips with forgiveness, compassion, and hope. I trust people of all faiths will appreciate
this song from the Christian perspective.
