MUSICIANS NEEDED FOR FOXFIRE PRODUCTION AT BOWIE COMMUNITY THEATRE:
FOXFIRE is a play written by Susan Cooper and Hume Cronyn about an Appalachian family and the changing times. It is not a musical per se, but rather a play with music. There is one scene in the play where the main character, Dillard, and his bluegrass band are playing a concert. We are in need of a violinist/fiddle player, double bass/or bass guitarist, and someone who can play either the banjo or mandolin. It's probably a total of 10 minutes on stage a night. However, one of the things we were trying to put together was to have "the band" play some selections during intermission. (another 15 minutes). We have a total of 10 performances, 4 Technical rehearsals, and probably 4 rehearsals prior to Tech Week. The show opens on Dec 2nd and plays for three weekends. Bowie Community Theatre is a non-profit organization, and I know they don't have a huge amount of money; so the compensation is really only a stipend of around $100-$200 total per musician for the whole commitment.
