The original Blue Daze will perform a reunion concert at Rob Miller's Bluegrass Barn (1037 Pinch Valley Road, Westminster, MD 21158) on Saturday July 30 from 8:00 – 10:30 pm. The band includes Chuck Van Meter (guitar), Lenny Whitehead (mandolin), Mike Hartnett (fiddle), Mike Jenkins (bass), and Tim Kruzic (banjo).
If you are relatively new (since 2010 or so) to DCAB-L or the Baltimore/Washington area, you may have never heard of Blue Daze! Blue Daze performed throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and New England from 1990 to 2010, but has not played in its original configuration since 2007. The band played the third Friday at the Friendly Inn in West Friendship, MD for almost 20 years. Blue Daze was renowned for original material from the band and other Maryland songwriters (notably Wayne Ashmore) as well as its take on a few Western cowboy tunes. You won’t hear this material elsewhere!
