About Flamboyan Foundation

Flamboyan Foundation envisions a day when children in Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico receive a world-class education. To make this vision a reality, Flamboyan brings strategic leadership and investment of time and money to solve some of the most deeply rooted educational challenges. We study the issues and work with our partners to develop creative solutions and put ideas into practice. We constantly learn from our experiences and adapt our work accordingly. The cornerstone of Flamboyan's approach is hands-on, purposeful collaboration with nonprofits, school districts, educators, government and community leaders who share our commitment to and focus on achieving ambitious results to improve children's learning.

In Washington, D.C., we are working to improve student outcomes by transforming the way families and educators work together. Research consistently shows family engagement accelerates student learning. However, districts, schools and teachers often do not know how to best partner with families and provide the information and support needed to help children succeed. We work with educators and other partners to learn about the most effective approaches to family engagement. We then build the capacity of teachers, school leaders and districts by providing the training, resources and on-the- ground support they need. We also invest in education advocacy efforts that enable families to attain the best possible public education for their children.

[YEP-DC] Support the Musicianship!

I am serving on the Host Committee for 'Dianne's Recital,' an annual student showcase that supports local youth and raises funds for a nonprofit organization called The MusicianShip. The MusicianShip provides music lessons, experiences, and opportunities for at-risk youth in the DC area. I support The MusicianShip because because I too am a musician, and see wonders on the positive effects that Music has on our young people.  Learning music, gives various skills that will help students in Math, Reading, Foreign Languages, History, and Science, just to name a few. , Although there are some amazing school programs in the DC area, there is really not a strong Music Education program within all of the schools.  The Musicianship is a tool that can help give access to students who want to continue with their lessons in Music to reach greater heights, whether it be a scholarship to play at Howard Universities Marching Band, or a chance of a life time to play for prestigious Drum Corps Marching Bands (The Super Bowl for Band Geeks) this is a positive opportunity to help many work on their craft and become excellent musicians.

Please join me in supporting The MusicianShip. I have included information below on the event's details and how you can purchase tickets.  Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to attending this event with you on August 6!  Although, I will not be attendance :( this year, due to moving to California. I highly encourage you to attend and support these students who have worked hard throughout the school year and this summer. To purchase tickets, you can click here! Proceeds from this event will benefit The MusicianShip's effort to change lives with music.

When: Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Where: Woodrow Wilson High School

3950 Chesapeake St. NW, Washington, DC 20016

Attire: Business Casual

Tickets: $15 and $25
