[dcab-l] All Mixed Up Live: You’ve Heard My Voice (and You Know My Name)

All Mixed Up Live:   You’ve Heard My Voice (and You Know My Name)

Songwriters & Music Lovers:

Here is an All Mixed Up live cover of  Greenwich Village folk singer Art Podell’s

gripping spiritual You’ve Heard My Voice from his definitive solo performance on his 2014

vinyl FolkWorks release From the Village to the Canyon, a Songwriter’s Journey.

However, the song was originally written in the 1960s with his songwriting partner Walter

Schorr, known together as: Art & Paul. (Interestingly, Art Podell was an original member

of The New Christy Minstrels!)

This song has also been covered by Glenn Yarbrough, Celeste, Bob Cook, and Judi

Resnick.

Barry Wendell’s live vocal and guitar performance is notably powerful!  I added the driving

bass after the original live recording.

All Mixed Up musicians:

Barry Wendell       Lead Vocal & Rhythm Guitar

Ed Schaeffer         Lead Guitar, Harmony & Bass

   You’ve Heard My Voice

Art & Paul

You Heard My Voice

You Heard My Voice

And you know My Name

If you've ever kissed in the summer rain
Slept where the winds and the snows have lain
If you've ever heard a lonely train
Then you've heard My voice
And
youknowMy name

If you'vebowed your headand you're filled with pride
And learned of death when a bird has died
And you’ve tasted tears when a child has cried
Then you've heard My voice
And you know My name

You've heard My voice in the winds of spring
Seen my face where the roses cling
I am the touch that the warm rains bring
I make my home in the heart of everything

In the driving rain of a summer squall
When the summer is gone, the petals fall
When the day is done and the Night Birds call
Then you've hear My voice and You know my Name

You've heard My voice in the winds of spring
Seen my face where the roses cling
I am the touch that the warm rains bring
I make my home in the heart of everything

In the driving rain of a summer squall
When the summer is gone, the petals fall
When the day is done and the Night Birds call….

Then you've hear My voice and You know my Name

Then you've hear My voice and You know my Name

You know My name
