[dcab-l] Hymn by Hank Williams: House of Gold

Music Lovers & Songwriters:

"House of Gold" is a hymn written by Hank Williams.  It was released by MGM

Records as the B-side to "How Can You Refuse Him Now?" in 1954.  It was first

recorded as a demo when Williams worked the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport between

August 1948 and May 1949.  "House of Gold" has become one of Hank's most covered

hymns.

This version was recorded at U. of Md. radio station WMUC, hosted by Ben Frey.  The

fidelity is not superb; it was recorded onto cassette via a 1949 Philco radio, from the

WMUC transmission.

Musicians:

   Steve Grossman                  Banjo

   Fred Travers                       Harmony, Dobro

   Pete Hinds                          Fiddle
