[dcab-l] Two Love Lost Songs: One Sad and one Bitter

Songwriters & Music Lovers:

These two songs are my originals: “Forgive Forget” and "Murder on the Mountain".

During gigs, I often do "Forgive Forget", but as stage patter, I usually mention, truthfully,

that it was a song I wrote upon the breakup with my lovely 1st wife, Cynthia.   Kind of slow

and reconciliatory in nature.

Then, I mention that another song I wrote about the breakup was called "Murder on the Mountain"

(not really true).  This usually elicits a laugh!  I don't actually do the song all that often because

it's difficult to arrange without practice.

"Forgive Forget" was recorded by Gantt Kushner at Gizmo Studios, for the CD:

Ride Out the Storm

Musicians:

    Carolyn Kellock                Bass

    Heather Twigg                 Fiddle

    Frank Solivan II                Mandolin

    Jack Sanbower                Banjo

    Ed Schaeffer                    Guitar & Vocal

"Murder on the Mountain", on the other hand, was recorded with Seldom Scene pickers on a CD called

High Lonesome Sound”, recorded by Wally Cleaver Studios.  It feels something like tragic anger.

(The original CD cover was changed for Carl Nelson’s family when he died):

Musicians:

Willie Oldes                    Bass

Freddie Travers              Dobro

Phil Rosenthal                Mandolin and Lead Guitar

Ben Eldridge                  Banjo

Ed Schaeffer                   Rhythm Guitar & Vocal
