[YEP-DC] Host a small group of college women at your ed policy org

Dear All,
My organization, the Public Leadership Education Network, is currently planning our 31st Annual Women & Public Policy Seminar, which will bring 60 outstanding college women to Washington to explore careers in public policy. Two days of the seminar will focus specifically on education policy issues, and I need your help!

I am looking for two or three organizations that would be willing to host small groups (8-10) students at their organization for about 45 minutes on Tuesday, January 15, after 3:30 pm, or on Wednesday, January 16 after 3 pm. The visit would be an informal chance for students to meet with professionals (preferably women, but not necessary) who work in ed policy, learn about what your organization does, and for you to share any advice that you may have for students who want to work in ed policy.

It is also a great opportunity to meet with some fantastic college women that will be looking for internship and entry level opportunities in the near future.

[YEP-DC] LAST DAY to Sign Up to Volunteer with YEP-DC on MLK Day!

There is no better way to start 2013 than with a satisfying day of volunteering. YEP-DC is teaming up with City Year to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in a day of service.

On this special day of civic engagement, neighborhood collaboration, and volunteerism, we will transform a high-needs school into a more engaging, educational, and vibrant place for students to learn and play. Projects will include painting murals, building benches, and planting green spaces, among others.

We are looking to have a group of 25-30 volunteers. Please register here by COB today, January 5 to ensure that you will be on the same project with other YEP-DC members. We look forward to seeing you there!

[YEP-DC] JOB OPPORTUNITY: Program Evaluator II-Teacher, School and School Leader Evaluation with Baltimore City Public Schools

Good afternoon all-

The Office of Achievement and Accountability (OAA) of Baltimore City Schools is looking to hire a Program Evaluator to work in the further development of the School, School Leader and Teacher Evaluation Systems. Working in OAA provides an opportunity to impact education at a critical juncture in time. As a result of Race to the Top grant, the district is developing, testing, and implementing innovative evaluation systems for teachers, leaders, and schools that will be field tested in 2012-2013 and implemented at full scale in 2013-2014. The systems seek to both identify our most effective teachers, leaders, and schools as well as provide data-based, tangible, and targeted feedback to guide improvement and professional development. We believe these systems will not only make a positive impact on the 86,000 students in Baltimore City, but also serve as a model for evaluation systems around the country. The Program Evaluator II position plays a key role in leading projects within these evaluation systems and providing quantitative analyses that inform and drive policy decisions for the district.
