Submit Your Song Contest Entry by January 5th

The Hazel Dickens Song Contest for 2018 accepts entries until January 5th. Make your resolution to polish off that song and to email or upload your entry before midnight this Friday. Just follow the instructions at http://dcbu.org/hazel-dickens-song-contest/.

Prizes:
First place: $500, an invitation to perform the winning song on stage at the 2018 DC Bluegrass Festival (March 9-10), and a full-festival pass for two.
Second place: $250.
Third place: $100.

Celebrating the life and muse of one of bluegrass music's most beloved and influential songwriters, the Hazel Dickens Song Contest commemorates her songwriting genius by providing an opportunity for today's original bluegrass songwriters to receive recognition and rewards for their talent.


Band Contest Coming Up!

The DC Bluegrass Festival on March 9th-10th will again feature the Mid-Atlantic Bluegrass Band Contest, with cash prizes of $800, $500, and $300. The contest is open for entries until March 1st. For the New Year, resolve to take advantage of this opportunity, performing on our stage at the Sheraton Tysons Hotel. The first place winner also earns a slot on the festival's program and more benefits described in the contest announcement.
