[dcab-l] Flatt & Scruggs: Blue Ridge Cabin Home

Music Lovers & Songwriters:

As I can determine, this song by Flatt & Scruggs & the Foggy Mountain Boys was

released on a same-named vinyl album in 1978 on County Records (CCS 102).  To avoid

copyright issues, the writers for Flatt & Scruggs songs are always listed as Louise

Certain and Gladys Stacey, wives of Flatt & Scruggs, using their maiden names.

Our live version was recorded at a television station in Fairfax, Va in the 90s:

It then appeared later on a Rattlesnake Hill CD entitled: Hard Drivin’ Bluegrass:

Musicians are listed in the CD cover above.  Bassist Kathy Willis has passed, but her

bass can be heard thundering though this song. To listen, click URL below:

http://rattlesnakehill.org/Web_Music/edsmusic.html

I hope you enjoy it!

[dcab-l] Fwd: announcement for DCBU bluegrass jam in DC

Subject: announcement for DCBU bluegrass jam in DC

Hi Barb--this is the announcement you agreed to post on the listserv you mentioned last night. Hope it's OK. Thanks so much for posting it! Bill

The DCBU Dupont Circle Bluegrass Jam is seeking a new jam leader. Mike Marceau has led the jam for the last several years but now wants to step down and let someone else lead the jam. There are no special qualifications for the leadership except some experience playing bluegrass and to be supportive of all levels of jam members. The jam currently meets the first Sunday of the month from 11-2 at the Mansion on O Street, close to the Dupont Circle Metro (and coming by metro is recommended because on street parking is very limited). To find out more please see Jam at the Mansion on O Street on Facebook or contact Bill Thompson at landcommentary@gmail.com or 202-797-9259.
