DCBU is gathering the community to celebrate music and two of our local stalwarts- Mary Cliff and Tom Knowles.  Join us and make it special. Wer'e cooking, we're jamming and were celebrating. Bring your instrument, voice, a dish of your own to share. Spread the word to your buds.

We'll be jamming in Cherry Hill Park at 2 PM- see the attached map for location.

Swing by the DCBU Facebook page for the event info here

Mary Cliff

Mary's 47 year run with her show 'Traditions' has aired on many stations over the years and has occupied the Saturday night slot on  WERA (96.7) since 2016. Her stellar career has earned her many recognitions, including an induction to the FAI DeeJay Hall of Fame in 2018.

During this time she has been a steadfast supporter of bluegrass and and the local music community, providing updates on performances and spins of locally produced records.

Tom Knowles

Tom Knowles started Appalachian Reign in 1975 and played the local bar scene for almost 10 years, including the famous Red Fox where they had a regular night. Whether at Shakey's Pizza, Smithsonian events and WAMU bluegrass shows, Tom always had a first rate band. Banjo players over the years included Porter Church, Chris Warner, Dick Smith, and Lamar Grier. Other band regulars included Bill Torbert, Buzz Busby,  Dave Auldridge, as well as Joe Meadows on fiddle.

Having moved to Strasburg in 2008, Tom may not have the local visibility that he once had, but his legacy as a band leader and musician in the area is undeniable.
