[dcab-l] Ed on Gypsy Jazz Bass: "Nuages"

Songwriters & Music Lovers:

Virtually every bluegrass musician, especially guitarists, is familiar with Django

Reinhardt, who along with Stephane Grappelli formed the “Hot Club of France” in

1934.  Django’s guitar capability is virtually unparalleled, and his influence can be heard,

even today, among guitar pickers of all styles.

"Nuages" is one of the best-known compositions by Django Reinhardt (a Gypsy).  He

recorded at least thirteen versions of the tune, a mainstay of “Gypsy Jazz” repertoire.

The title translated to English is "Clouds".  The adaptation with English lyrics is titled

"It's the Bluest Kind of Blues".
