[dcab-l] Broadcast map for 88.5 HD2

Hi all. Many of you might not realize that the HD signal reaches all the way out to Winchester in the west and Bel Air, MD to the north. The sound quality is also far better. Details on how to get upgraded to HD are here.

[dcab-l] Bluegrass Country Radio Moving Exclusively to HD radio and Internet

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 23, 2017

Bluegrass Country Radio Moving Exclusively to HD radio and Internet

Starting June 21, 2017, Bluegrass Country radio will no longer broadcast over 105.5 FM in the Washington, DC area. The station will continue to broadcast over 88.5 FM HD Channel 2, streaming at bluegrasscountry.org and via our smart phone apps for iOS and Android devices.

The 105.5 FM signal is owned by a third party with whom the station was unable to reach a contract agreement going forward. About two-thirds of Bluegrass Country listeners already hear our broadcast via HD radio and the Internet at bluegrasscountry.org.

"While the loss of 105.5 FM will be frustrating for a group of our listeners, we will work hard to help them make the transition to new HD and Internet listening modes," said Jeff Ludin, president of the Bluegrass Country Foundation.

The 88.5 FM HD Channel 2 signal delivers better sound quality with a much larger broadcast range.  HD radios for home and car are reasonably priced and easy to install. Many newer cars come with an HD radio as standard equipment. Listeners can find out more about how to tune into Bluegrass Country in HD here.

Bluegrass Country is the oldest radio station of its kind in America. For more than 50 years, we have broadcast the best in bluegrass, Americana and roots music. Our programming is curated by deejays, not algorithms. Visit us at bluegrasscountry.org.

For more information:

Bluegrass Country radio is owned and operated by the Bluegrass Country Foundation. The foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We are supported by contributions from our listeners and sponsors.

[YEP-DC] NEW RECESS Blog Posts

Building Consensus Around the Need for School Diversity
Nationwide, more than one-third of all black and Latino students attend schools that are more than 90% nonwhite. In this post, Kimberly Quick and Jenna Tomasello reflect on how desegregation has been deemphasized over the last 30 years as accountability policies have become more prevalent. The organization they co-founded, Learn Together, Live Together (LTLT), promotes desegregation as a concrete way to improve academic outcomes for marginalized students, begin to remedy past inequities, and bolster our social and economic future. The Power of A Positive Interaction: Using Asset-Based Engagement Strategies
As a middle school teacher, Amanda Klein struggled to reach the family of one of her students, but the reason was not what she expected. When she finally connected with her student's mother, they were able to work together to bring about dramatic changes in the student's approach to school. Amanda has now founded a consulting firm, Structured Solutions, that helps schools, districts, and nonprofits take an asset-based approach that highlights strengths in the various ways families and communities support students.
