[dcab-l] Jimmy Gaudreau & Moondi Klein

Many thanks to Jimmy Gaudreau and Moondi Klein for a fantastic night of superb acoustic music and family fun at the Weekend Bluegrass Concert Series in Herndon, Virginia last night.  These two fine musicians, and fine folks too, always put on a tremendous concert and the one last night was a real treat for all.  The evening was filled with music and laughter and with FIREWORKS at concert end as the Herndon Festival set off their fireworks display on the Town golf course adjacent to the concert sight -- so -- it was a "two fer" night with a concert and a pyrotechnics display.  I always look forward to Jimmy and Moondi appearing as a duo as they truly are a "matched set" - lol.

[dcab-l] Fast Fiddle: Soldier's Joy & Listen to the Mockingbird

Music Lovers:

Here’s another live cut from the Appalachian Jubilee, featuring Dan Cassidy on the fiddle.  (Many

listeners around the world may know his famous sister, singer Eva Cassidy.  Very musical family!)

This cut starts with "Soldier's Joy",  then morphs  into "Listen to the Mockingbird",  a song by

Septimus Winner, written in 1855.  Dan uses Mockingbird to display his fiddling prowess,

offering the live audience various fiddling delights, at dive-bomb speed.  If you listen, he brings

the audience to applause during one of his motifs.

Rattlesnake Hill used an electric bass player from a country band that night, along with Warren

Reeder chopping the dobro; I held down the Martin.

For those of you who remember Dan, he has moved to Iceland, where he is playing with another

British country band, and a "Hot Club" gypsy-jazz band.

As always, headphones preferred!  Click:
