Jam Bus to the IBMAs in Raleigh, NC -

Departure - leaving Thursday morning 9/28 around 9:00. Arriving mid afternoon in Raleigh in time for people to check into hotels and then see the IBMA Awards show Thursday night

Return - leaving Sunday morning around 10:00 AM from Raleigh. Should be back in Bal/DC area by late afternoon

Pickup/Dropoff Locations - We won't pick a spot to meet up at until we know who will be on the bus. But we if we have people from Baltimore and DC, we'll probably pick a spot somewhere between the two cities. We plan on dropping people off at multiple locations in Raleigh.

Capacity - even though the bus listed with a capacity of 26, we're trying to keep the bus comfortable for a 5 hour trip with musicians. We're trying to limit to 22 passengers.

Costs - We think we'll fill the bus and the round trip cost including gas and bus driver tip will amount to $210 per person

Availability - We currently have 10 people from the Baltimore area signed up. We have others interested. But currently we have 12 seats available

Matt Kramer suggested I contact you about a bass I'm selling because I just got a new one. the bassw I'm selling is an Engelhardt that I've had for about 25 years. Has an upgraded ebony fingerboard and an upgraded bridge. I'm including a pick-up and a bag. Strings were bought within the past year. Recently looked at by a luthier and has no cracks but has some scratches on the bottom. Feel free to pass this on to whoever you think might be interested.

[dcab-l] Takoma Park VFW Bluegrass Jam cookout on Labor Day?

The first Monday in September is of course Labor Day. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 350 in Takoma Park has no plans for any special activity that day. However, the Post, which has always been accommodating to a fault to the bluegrass jammers, has let me know that if people are interested they'll open Monday afternoon and have a cookout with hamburgers and hot dogs. How many people would come to this? Head count, please. And if you're coming, please let me know ASAP as I'm going on vacation next week and I'd like to have some idea by Monday noon, or Monday 6:00 PM at the latest. Thx!

[dcab-l] Dry Branch Fire Squad

What an absolutely great night of music and humor was had by all at the Weekend Bluegrass Concert Series yesterday evening. Dry Branch Fire Squad was the reason. This band has been around over 40 years now and their traditional bluegrass 'on the edge' music coupled with unpredictable down home country humor make them 'one of a kind.' If you weren't clapping and tapping your toes you were clapping and laughing - what a formidible combination. SPECIAL CONSENSUS put on a whale of a show on, Sunday, August 13th, as part of the Weekend Bluegrass Concert Series. The afternoon was filled with magnificent traditional bluegrass music and great humor. Everyone was 'spot on' and the vocal blends and instrument runs were absolutely superb, Many, many "Thanks" go to Greg Cahill, Rick Faris, Dan Eubanks and Nick Dumas for a stellar afternoon of rock solid entertainment. Sterling Golf Club Acoustic Jam - Sunday August 13, 5 PM - Back at Sterling!

The weather looks GREAT for a porch jam on Sunday night at the

Sterling Golf Club.

NOTE: 5 PM start time, ~ 8 PM end time.

Food is available through the bar, from Joe's Restaurant!

ALCOHOL must still be served through the bar, per ABC private club

rules. You may bring wine or spirits to be served. Beer is on tap and in cans.

Expect the bar service to close at 7 PM.

FAIR WARNING: It's a bar environment, with all that entails. It's fun

to play there, if you are inclined toward that.

OPEN FORMAT: This is a FUN, very informal jam. We encourage all kinds

of acoustic music. Bluegrass, newgrass, stained glass, folk,

folk-rock, progressive, old country, new country, roots, blues, jazzy,

singer-songwriters with their original thoughts, and more. Just bring

it!

Teach Us All (2017) is a documentary focused on educational inequity set against the backdrop of the 1957 Little Rock Nine. This movie screening and panel discussion aims to activate a local conversation with students, educators, parents and the larger Washington D.C. community about barriers and opportunities to foster diversity, equity and inclusions in all schools.
