Good afternoon! I work for Rock Creek Conservancy
<
http://www.rockcreekconservancy.org/>, an environmental non-profit in the
Washington, DC area dedicated to protecting Rock Creek and the third oldest
national park, Rock Creek Park. We are hosting our annual gala this fall on
Saturday, October 14, at Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens
<
https://www.hillwoodmuseum.org/>, where 350 guests will celebrate
conservation and those dedicated to preserving nature. This is our largest
fundraiser, raising 20-25% of our annual budget.
*We are looking for a band to play at our event.* Here are the details:
-Because *we will be in a tent in the gardens*, we would love to take
advantage of the space! We think it would be great to have a *duo/trio
meander through the gardens* playing music for the first hour, and then
perform for the rest of the evening under the tent. So a band that can be
(somewhat) mobile would be great!
-We imagine that most of the music will be *played acoustically (with
little to no vocals)*. We can have speakers under the tent, but that will
be minor amplification. We don't want anything too loud for our guests. But
if bands have their own speakers, that would be a plus.
-This is a *formal event with a high ticket price*, and my executive
director wants to make sure the music fits in with what our guests would
expect from a gala like this. However, I would like to try something a
little different, since our guests will have attended plenty of events with
classical music and that sort of thing. So I'm *looking for music that is
lively and fun*, but perhaps more folksy than country. Does that make
sense? I want to show our guests that bluegrass can appeal to the masses!
-*Because we are a non-profit, we have a limited budget. *So any bands that
have worked with non-profits before, or who enjoy working for a cause,
would be perfect! A small stipend is available, and the musicians would get
dinner as well.
What do you think of this of this? I would love to hear your thoughts and
ideas, and I am happy to speak with you if that would be helpful. Also,
please see attached for our fact sheet so you can learn more about us. I
hope you will be interested in both our conservation work and having one of
your bands participate in this year's event!
Thank you so much, and I look forward to hearing from you,
Kate Arion

Good afternoon!

We are hosting our annual gala this fall on Saturday, October 14, at Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, where 350 guests will celebrate conservation and those dedicated to preserving nature. We are looking for a band to play at our event. There are so many listed in the DC Bluesgrass Union! So I thought it might be helpful to tell you about our event and our needs, and then you may be able to suggest specific bands who might fit the bill; I wouldn't know where to start with your extensive list! Here are the details:
-Because we will be in a tent in the gardens, we would love to take advantage of the space!
